Hepatitis B Vaccine Recommended for Adults with Diabetes

On December 23, 2011, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new recommendations on the use of hepatitis B vaccine for adults with diabetes mellitus. All previously unvaccinated adults aged 19 through 59 years with diabetes mellitus (type 1 and type 2) should be vaccinated against hepatitis B as soon as possible after a diagnosis of diabetes is made.
