Information about Vaccines Before, During, and After Pregnancy

A mother’s immunity is passed on to her baby during pregnancy. Therefore, a newborn baby is protected from some diseases for a few months, until the baby can begin to receive his/her own immunizations. A mother should receive certain vaccines to protect her and her baby.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Pregnancy Chart shows what immunizations are needed prior to, during, and after pregnancy.
